History
Howsafe was founded in 1994 by Mark Howe, our Managing Director and Principal Consultant, as a specialist WHS consultancy dedicated to helping businesses navigate workplace health and safety with confidence. From our early days, we’ve focused on delivering practical, on-the-ground support tailored to the unique needs of each client.
Over the years, we’ve grown steadily, expanding our services, our team, and our reach. Most recently, we’ve extended our footprint by opening a new branch in the Wollongong region, allowing us to better serve businesses across the Illawarra and South Coast with the same hands-on expertise and commitment to safety that Howsafe is known for.
While much has changed since 1994, our core mission remains the same: to provide clear, actionable WHS guidance that makes workplaces safer and more compliant.

MARK HOWE
CEO / FOUNDER
Mark is the founder of Workplace Safety & Training Services Pty Ltd and Howsafe. With a career spanning nearly three decades in safety, training and related fields, he is a veritable fountain of knowledge on WHS issues and their management. Having worked in fields as diverse as radiography and coal mine management, Mark has a deep understanding of what it takes to run a business; he also has an abiding passion for people and their safety in the workplace.
Ron Van Egmond
Systems Manager
Our resident jack-of-all-trades, Ron has studied and worked in safety, IT, quality auditing, law, photography, graphic design, communications, writing, electronics and a multitude of other disciplines. He’s found his niche at Howsafe, where his role reflects that experience – if it’s complicated, we throw him at it.
Michael Nanscawen
Chief Programmer
Michael heads up our illustrious programming team. A gifted IT specialist with a lifetime’s experience in programming and computing, he has an innate ability to grasp complex problems and turn them into even more complex answers. He’s quick-witted, intelligent and impossible to faze, all of which means he’s the perfect person to have on our team.
Geoff Hoy
Programmer
Geoff is the third member of our programming team. His expertise in data structures, complex databases and information management means he knows where the bits and bytes go, and how to get them back when we need them. He’s a quiet achiever, but his achievements speak volumes.
Damien Moloney
Operations Manager
Damien, a skilled operations manager with a strong commitment to success. With lots of years of experience, he is a proven leader who brings a team-focused mentality to every project. Damien’s unwavering loyalty and drive to deliver outstanding results make him an invaluable asset to Howsafe.
Warren Edwards
Senior Consultant
Warren Edwards is a seasoned workplace health, safety, and training leader with over 40 years of experience in the mining and allied industries. Throughout his career, Warren has led safety improvements, implemented critical safety controls, and championed cultural change within organisations. He introduced the ‘Safe Spine’ program, significantly reducing workplace injuries, and rebranded safety culture through engaging training programs. Warren holds extensive qualifications in safety management, project management, and training, and is passionate about ensuring every worker returns home safely.
Daniel COllins
Business Strategy Manager
With over 20 years of experience managing restaurant operations for a global chain, coupled with an MBA, Daniel has developed a strong foundation in business strategy, operations management, and team leadership. At Howsafe, Daniel leverages his extensive background to drive strategic growth and operational excellence, ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality solutions to our clients. Daniel’s focus is on executing effective strategies that support both business objectives and customer satisfaction.
